Apart from Indian
politics, the influence of American politics can be felt in Nepal. Air in
Whitehouse makes cold in the BICC and people open their umbrella here in New
Road when New York rains. Recently, US got the 45th president, Donald Trump,
and the world politics is keenly observing the atmosphere where Nepal is no
exception. Frequently Nepalese leaders also bring the reference of American
politics while delivering their public speeches. American is not only the
example of permanent government culture but also the finest instance of hard
toil, honesty and morality.
To begin with,
America believe in hard work. Unlike our politicians, politicians of American
have their own profession before going to the government and they start their
own business after completion of their tenure. George Washington, first
president of America, was the army commander who passed his life in writing
books and social activities after his presidency. Abraham Lincoln, who is very
famous for his contribution to end the slavery system in America, was a lawyer
by profession. The 28th president of America, Woodrow Wilson, was a
football coach and lawyer. After his tenure he registered a law company
collaborating with his secretary with whom he had worked in the Whitehouse. Similarly,
Warren G Harding, 29th president, was a famous journalist who was
murdered during his tenure. 30th president of US, Calvin Coolidge
was a Jury member of Supreme Court whereas Herbert Hoover, 31st
president, was an engineer.
Similarly, another
famous president from Democratic Party Franklin D Roosevelt was a governor. Likewise,
the 39th president of US, Jimmy Carter, was a farmer by profession.
After his tenure he worked as a human right activist and later he won the noble
prize in 2002. George H. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush all of them had their
own profession before being president and they are doing the same after their
presidency. The first black president, Barack Obama, 44th president,
was a lawyer and professor. After the farewell from Whitehouse, he is thinking
whether to continue his old profession or choose new one. Now, America has a
very famous business icon, Donald Trump, as a president for next eight years to
rule the most powerful country of the world.
In recapitulate, unlike
US politicians, our leaders don't want to take rest from politics. Instead of
engaging on their own dealings and creative activities, our politician love to devote
their time in filthy politics- politics of achieving power in a government.
Recently, Nepal has been listed among the most corrupt countries of the world.
Other thing remaining the same, the major reason behind the corruption in our
country is that people without any profession come to politics not to
contribute but to enjoy money, power and position. Politics in Nepal has thus
become an easy money making business without needing any professionalism.
